YWHO (Youth Wellness Hub Ontario) – Renfrew County
Partner representatives, members of the community, youth and staff gathered at the myFM Centre in Ma-te-way Park on May 3 to officially kick off a new Youth Wellness Hub (YWHO) in Renfrew.
Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO) is an initiative that aims to bring the right services to youth (and their families) at the right time and in the right place. YWHO is a critical step toward improving Ontario’s mental health and addiction services for youth and young adults.
The Renfrew County Youth Wellness Hub officially opened on October 21, 2022. It is located in a renovated house that allows for a home-away-from-home feel. The site was selected by local youth, and they have designed the décor to make it feel as cozy and comfortable as a real home.
The sprawling facility includes a therapy room, fully equipped kitchen and dining room, craft room, music room, and supply room stocked with clothing, towels, hygiene products and more.
Many partners from local communities came together to make the site possible, along with support from the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care, YWHO and Renfrew Victoria Hospital.
