The Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) is a fully accredited facility located just 45 minutes west of Ottawa. Part of the Renfrew and Area Health Village, RVH provides medical, surgical and complex continuing care as well as extensive ambulatory care with over 30,000 emergency and clinic visits per year.
We are recruiting a Physician Assistant (PA) for our Complex Continuing Care (CCC) Unit, to assist our supervising physicians on duty in assessing and providing continuing care for inpatients, and may be involved as well in admissions and care for higher acuity patients on our active care (medical/surgical) unit. These patients are a combination of complex continuing care (short term and long term complex medical management), ALC, and active care medical/surgical patients. The PA also participates in education sessions and may be asked to attend or participate in other activities related to the development of the complex continuing care program or hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, collaborative PA to join our hospital team. This is a 1-year contract with the potential to become permanent.

Responsibilities: ● Under supervision of the supervising physician and as per the medical directives: perform history and physicals, and develop a plan of care, order investigations and interpret findings, perform procedures, provide patient education and counselling, arrange interventions and post-discharge appointments ● Interact with other CCC and Active Care team members and community partners as part of the patient’s circle of care ● Anticipate patient needs and obstacles. Set realistic goals for patient care that lead to optimal results, enhanced patient satisfaction based on evidence-based practice. ● Model and encourage personal accountability; support a common team purpose and direction ● Perform other job-related duties as assigned. QualificationsJob Requirements ● Graduate of an accredited PA program recognized by the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC)
● Holds the Canadian Certified Physician Assistant certification through PACCC or holds the Physician Assistant-Certified certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) (May be asked to provide proof of meeting maintenance of certification requirements) ● Demonstrates good initiative, problem solving and analytical skills ● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
