RVH welcomes new physician Dr. Ricardo Viltakis

March 23, 2026

Dr. Viltakis first came to RVH while completing two four-week training rotations. During that time, he got to know the hospital, the staff, and the community. He says he was drawn to the friendly team and the chance to provide care in a smaller community.

Dr. Viltakis studied at the University of Ottawa, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) in 2016, a Doctor of Medicine in 2023, and completed his Residency in Family Medicine in 2025. Through his training, he has had exposure to many areas of medicine, including emergency care, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, psychiatry, geriatrics, and rural family medicine.

“Dr. Viltakis brings a strong range of skills and a passion for patient care,” said Amanda Low, RVH Chief of Medical Staff. “We are very happy to welcome him to our team.”

While in Ottawa, Dr. Viltakis was active in volunteer and community work. He speaks English, French, and Arabic. In his free time, he enjoys sports like soccer, volleyball, and snowboarding, as well as hobbies such as photography, playing guitar, building custom computers, and 3D printing.

Dr. Viltakis is looking forward to supporting patients and families in the Renfrew area.

“I am excited to join the team at RVH,” he said. “I look forward to caring for patients and becoming part of the community.”

Suzanne Madore, RVH President and CEO, added, “We are proud to welcome Dr. Viltakis to RVH. His skills and dedication will help us continue to provide high-quality care close to home.”
