Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) is excited to announce that two new Gynecologists, Dr. Emily Delpero and Dr. Justin White, will be joining the team this summer.
RVH and The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology have been working collaboratively for a number of years to bring gynecology care closer to home in Renfrew.
“This is another in a long list of partnerships between RVH and TOH that includes nephrology, oncology, radiology, surgical services and more, to bring expertise and services to Renfrew and area,” states Julia Boudreau, RVH CEO.
“Through the MOH Surgical Innovation fund to address backlogs and our involvement in the Women’s Health Network of Excellence, there is an opportunity to do more gynecology procedures at RVH,” notes Chris Ferguson, RVH VP of Patient Services.
Starting in August, six OR days per month will be utilized for gynecology at RVH. This is due, in part, to the recruitment of Dr. Delpero and Dr. White.
Dr. Emily Delpero recently returned home to Ottawa after many years of post-secondary education away from home. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Science at McGill University and completed her medical school and postgraduate residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology (2021) at the University of Toronto. She then pursued an additional fellowship in Vulvovaginal Health and Menopause at Women's College Hospital and a Master of Science in Systems Leadership and Innovation at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Delpero joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ottawa Hospital in August of 2022 where she has a General Obstetrics and Gynecology practice with a focus on Vulvovaginal and Mature Women’s Health at the Shirley E. Greenberg Women’s Health Centre. She will be joining RVH on June 15th.
When she is not working, you can find Dr. Delpero hiking or paddling in the back country, reading, and rattling around the bush at her family cottage in Burnstown.
Dr. Justin White is from Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he completed his Bachelor of Science with a major in Microbiology and Immunology, Medical School (2016), and Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency (2021) at Dalhousie University. He moved to Ottawa to complete a two-year fellowship in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and will be finishing in June of this year. He is certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound. He has an interest in medical education and quality improvement and patient safety.
Dr. White is excited to be joining the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in July 2023. His first day at RVH will be August 17th.
“Many of our patients benefit from surgical services for endometrial polyps, fibroids and tubal disease and I look forward to providing direct care to the fertility population by operating and working with the team in Renfrew,” shared Dr. White.
Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, biking, tennis, swimming and cooking.
I would like to extend a very warm welcome to both Dr. Delpero and Dr. White on behalf of everyone at RVH. We look forward to welcoming them to the RVH family in the coming weeks,” said Boudreau.
“I would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Jessica Dy, Medical Director, Maternal, Newborn, Women’s Health Service Line, The Ottawa Hospital, Head of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at TOH and uOttawa, and Dr. Sony Singh, Head, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Newborn Care, TOH, who have been instrumental in bringing this program to RVH. They have been huge supporters of this collaboration and have seen the wonderful impact that it has on patient care,” added Boudreau.
She also thanked the RVH Surgical team and Dr. Steve Radke, Chief of Staff, for their support in bringing these specialty services closer to home for patients who need them.
