The Renfrew & Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated its Annual Community Awards event to honour local businesses and our community in on Thursday October 20 at Ma-te-Way Activity Centre.

Gail Laird, Chamber Manager told myFM radio prior to the nomination deadline that it’s very important to celebrate our community, the awesome people that are here and all they do behind the scenes that many people are not aware of.

Anyone in the community was able to nominate a business, individual or organization in the appropriate categories, which included citizen of the year, young person of the year, and the 2022 Local Hero Award and more.

The Local Hero Award ‘is for an individual person or team of people who strived to help their community during the COVID-19 Pandemic. They have made a real difference to their community for the safety and benefit of others. They are a true inspiration to the community who inspire others.’

Other top-three nominations for the award this year were Bonnechere Manor, and Linda and Andy Boldt (former RVH board chair).

“It’s wonderful for our staff and physicians who provide clinical care and support to the patients and their families in our community to receive this recognition,” said Alison Green, RVH VP of Corporate Services. “Congratulations to this year’s winner, Bonnechere Manor.”
