Judith (Judy) Campbell of Renfrew was the lucky winner of the RVH Foundation’s Catch the Ace (CTA) draw on October 20, 2022. The Ace of Spades was revealed under envelope 20. Judy won the Week 23 prize of $4,564 and the Progressive Jackpot of $97,928 for total winnings of $102,492.

An incredible total of $163,213 was raised for the RVH Foundation and will be directed towards the purchase of a state-of-the Art Tomosynthesis Mammogram machine.

The current Mammography unit is at end-of-life, meaning that it will no longer be serviced and needs to be replaced.

“Our plan is to purchase a new mammography unit that has tomographic capabilities. This can be thought of as a ‘CT scan of the breast.’ This type of imaging is higher than the standard of care for screening, but greatly improves diagnosis and detection of abnormalities for recalled imaging, providing ‘slices’ through breast tissue to review. The unit will allow also for stereo-tactic biopsy procedures which our patients currently must travel to Ottawa for,” explained Lisa Wherry, RVH Digital Imaging Manager.

The RVH Foundation would like to send a sincere thank you to everyone who purchased weekly Catch the Ace tickets for Lottery #RAF1246539, and a very special thank you to our participating Catch the Ace vendors and volunteers who are an important part of the RVH Foundation Catch the Ace team.

“We are committed to purchasing the new Tomosynthesis machine to allow for 3D imaging and enhance our Breast Cancer Screening Program. The Foundation Team, along with our amazing community, is providing another essential piece of equipment that allows RVH to bring the best in care close to home,” stated Patti Dillabough, RVH Foundation Executive Director.
