FRANCIS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL Occupational Health & Safety Assistant The Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) is a 55-bed, fully accredited facility located just 45 minutes west of Ottawa, serving a catchment area of over 60,000. Part of the Renfrew and Area Health Village, RVH provides medical, surgical and complex continuing care as well as extensive ambulatory care with over 30,000 emergency and clinic visits per year. St. Francis Memorial Hospital (SFMH) is a 20-bed, fully accredited facility located in the town of Barry’s Bay serving a catchment area of over 10,000 residents with medical and complex continuing care, and over 12,000 ED visits per year. We both use EPIC EMR, which connects us to most hospitals in our region. Due to internal growth, we are hiring a Permanent Full-Time (Non-Union) Occupational Health & Safety Assistant to join our Occupational Health and Safety and Infection Prevention and Control) team.
Pay Range: $35.14 - $42.71
Reporting to the Integrated Manager, OH&S/IPAC, you will work to support our teams through our Employee Health, Wellness and Safety Program as well as assist with Infection Control practices for RVH and SFMH.
You will come to this position with a clinical background (RPN or RN ideally) and will have a relevant certification for the role (e.g., OH&S, CRSP, a-IPC); however, applicants with equivalent experience will be considered.
Our OH&S/IPAC team is highly visible and responsive and can be found on any given day providing immunizations, conducting FIT testing and workplace inspections, running audits, supporting with WSIB and Return to Work claim follow-up, supporting with fire alarm and code drills, supporting wellness and healthy workplace initiatives, and supporting outbreak management.
You can choose to be based at either SFMH (Barry’s Bay) or RVH (Renfrew) with the expectation to have a weekly presence on-site at the other hospital.
QualificationsQualifications: Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements. • Because of the clinical elements inherent in this role, RPN, RN licensure is preferred • Certification in Occupational Health & Safety, Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or a-IPC designation preferred; • A minimum of two years clinical experience preferred; • Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Public Hospitals Act required; • Excellent oral and written communication skills required; • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills required; • Excellent teaching and health promotion skills; • Access to reliable transportation for travel through the region.
