Come join us! As a result of our internal movements at RVH, we are hiring Permanent, Part-Time Registered Practical Nurse with our Regional Hemodialysis Program.
Pay Grid: $37.87 - $39.02/hour
Working as a member of the clinical team and under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the incumbent provides and supports patient care delivery in the Hemodialysis Program.
Duties will include but are not limited to: • The Registered Practical Nurse has the knowledge, skills and judgment needed to provide competent, evidence-based nursing practice to selected patients, conformed to the complexity and predictability of their health condition. The level of complexity includes individual or group with readily identifiable or established care needs, which may be interrelated. The predictability may include individual or group with health condition that may not be well controlled. • The Registered Practical Nurse shall be responsible for meeting the standards and exercising judgment for providing safe, competent and ethical nursing care as outlined in the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of
Nursing Practice and Guidelines for Ethical Behaviour and the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Policies, Procedures and Protocols, and the standards of care appropriate to his/her area of clinical practice. • The Registered Practical Nurse creates and strengthens an environment conducive to professional and personal growth. • The Registered Practical Nurse provides nursing care in collaboration with the patient, significant others, and the multidisciplinary team. • The Registered Practical Nurse shall involve patients, and their families in assisting them to understand the plan of care and in facilitating choice among care options so that care is individualized according to each patient’s needs. • The Nurse also solicits patient and family input to evaluate their own care and to improve care for all patients.
QualificationsQualifications: • Current Certification and in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario. • Current CPR or BCLS certification, level ‘C’ is required. • Knowledge acquired through the successful completion and graduation of a recognized RPN program. • Two years of medical surgical experience • Current Hemodialysis experience or recent completion of a relevant Hemodialysis Orientation Program. • Medication administration certification • Asespsis Certification • I.V. certification • I.M. injection certification • Current WHMIS training • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to understand, interpret and carry out written and verbal instruction. • Ability to set priorities. • Ability to work effectively and provide care within a team environment, according to Nursing • Care Plan. • Ability to work independently and to perform duties within the physical demands of the work • area. [i.e. lifting and mobilization of patients] • Knowledge of department/hospital policies and procedures. • Basic knowledge of established Infection Control and Occupational Health & Safety practices. • Knowledge of body mechanics, and safe lift & transfer practices. • Knowledge of sterility and aseptic technique. • Demonstrates effective use of a computer for EHR documentation purposes.
