Come join us! As a result of an upcoming maternity leave at RVH, we are hiring a Temporary Part-Time Registered Nurse our Oncology/Medical Day Care Unit.
Pay Grid: $40.24 - $57.68 /hour
As part of a mobile on-call nursing team, nurses provide acute, follow up and outpatient health/forensic care to women, men and children who are victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, elder abuse and child maltreatment. Care is provided in the emergency departments/outpatient settings of all 5 hospitals in Renfrew County. Nurses also provide home assessments with older adults. Position involves liaison with community partners and the development/delivery of public education on abuse prevention and RACP services.
Duties will include but are not limited to: Part I: Perioperative Program • Assumes Scrub/ Circulating / Recovery / Day Care and PAU duties as assigned. • Must have working knowledge of hospital policies and procedures plus familiarity with ORNAC standards. • Be knowledgeable in sterilization and high-level disinfection practices – PIDAC best practice guidelines. • Knowledge of equipment used in the clinical areas. • Able to assist / direct set up of equipment / cleanup following each operative procedure. • Setting up OR anesthesia machine. • Adhere to hospital policy and procedure when handling specimens. • Checking, restocking, and ordering supplies/equipment. Part II: Cancer Services • Assumes systemic therapy/medical day care duties as assigned. • Must have working knowledge of hospital policies and procedures plus familiarity with TOHRCC policies and CCO best practice guidelines. • Knowledge of equipment used in the clinical area. • Computer skills. • Provides leadership in the unit as necessary in the absence of the Clinical Manager.
QualificationsQualifications: • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario • Current Certificate in BCLS • Two years clinical experience in acute care services i.e., Medical/Surgical • Excellent health assessment skills • Sound oral / written communication skills • Sound organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills • Ability to maintain a high level of concentration in a busy working environment • Ability to work independently and to perform duties in the physical demands of work area • de Souza Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification (recertification q. 18 months) required • Excellent IV skills and CVAD certification (annual recertification) • Minimum two years recent Systemic Therapy administration experience • Sound knowledge of CNO Standards of Nursing Practice, CANO standards • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred • CAN Oncology Nursing Certification preferred • Current membership in professional association (RNAO, CANO, etc) an asset • Demonstrates effective use of a computer for EHR documentation purposes.
