Come join us! As a result of our internal movements at RVH, we are hiring Temporary, Full Time Sleep Technician/Technologist with our Sleep Department.
Pay Grid: $37.34 - $39.75/hour
The primary purpose of the Sleep Technician is to maintain vigilance throughout the night to the patient record; make corrections as necessary; enlist assistance in the interpretation of events; call the Medical Director of the Sleep Laboratory when appropriate; and access emergency medical attention for the patient by calling a Code Blue (Medical Emergency) as appropriate. Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Communicate with all that have a need to know in a manner which is timely, informative, concise and accurate • Prepare a patient chart and complete a patient history.
• Inform the patient of the testing procedure and equipment used; the goals of testing; the possibilities of therapeutic intervention; the goals of therapy; and, any other issues pertaining to the sleep study. • Perform data collection for overnight polysomnography testing including file saving and copying to compact disk. • Apply nasal CPAP or Bi-Level PAP per department protocols for titrations. Apply oxygen as necessary and as per physician’s orders. • Data compilation for storage to disk. QualificationsQualifications:
• Graduate of a minimum 2 year community college program in a health related discipline. • Current registration with BRPT preferred. • Working experience as a Polysomnographic Technician/Technologist in a Sleep Laboratory required. • BCLS Certification required. • Strong analytical skills required. • Strong technical skills that may have been developed through previous work experience (i.e. EEG, ECG, other health care equipment and/or electronics). • Experience working in a retail environment including well-developed organizational skills and excellent customer service skills. • Working knowledge of computers. • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as a team member. • Bilingualism an asset.
