Pay Grid: $37.24 - $51.41 /hour
QualificationsDuties will include but are not limited to: • Performs ultrasound examinations, consults with Radiologist on pathology findings, sets-up and assists with special procedures for Radiologist. • With minimal supervision the Sonographer is responsible for the careful operation of all ultrasound equipment used to perform the examinations in a manner which ensures patient safety and is responsible for student technologists or nursing observers. • The Sonographer must have good hand-eye coordination required to scan, and good manual dexterity required in the manipulation of the transducers. Urgent requests for examination may introduce an element of pressure. • The Sonographer also performs specific patient care procedures respecting the patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality and ensuring that the departmental and Hospital standards and objectives of quality patient care, productivity, economy and safety are maintained. • Coordinates patient preparations and booking for special procedures. • Utilize Picture Archive Communication System (PACS) and North Eastern Ontario Diagnostic Imaging Network (NEODIN) for purpose of image display, networking, archival and retrieval. • Responsible for daily supervision and evaluation of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) students, and provide assistance to the Clinical Instructor MDS as required in conjunction with our affiliation as a clinical partner to regional colleges. • Responsible for the daily care and maintenance of the ultrasound equipment to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and other staff. • The incumbent must endeavor to keep current with new ultrasound and reprocessing techniques as they are introduced. • The incumbent shall be familiar with Hospital and departmental policies and procedures and take all necessary precautions to follow Hospital isolation procedures and use protective • devices, as provided by the Hospital, when exposed to infectious patients, radiation and/or chemical substances. • Maintain current CPR. • Be fully knowledgeable of his/her responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the Hospital’s Prevention Plan, and work in compliance with those provisions to create an environment conducive to the health and safety of the Hospital’s staff, patients and visitors. • Is expected to do rotational and call-back duty as scheduled. • Verifies appointments with nursing units to ensure prompt, efficient patient care. • Transport of patients or equipment to and from ultrasound or patient rooms, as required. • Responsible for the filing and retrieval of patients’ ultrasound records. • Maintains adequate stock of ultrasound room. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: • Graduate of an accredited Medical Ultrasound program; ARDMS or Sonography Canada registration or eligibility required • Registered and in good standing with CMRITO • Proof of Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) • CPR certification • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and imaging software • Skilled in equipment operation and image acquisition, with ability to adapt techniques as needed • Demonstrated ability to assess image completeness and determine need for additional views • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment • Physically able to meet job demands (e.g., prolonged standing, patient positioning, equipment handling) Everyone is Welcome
